A Thought about Cancer

A crawler on one of the 24 hour news stations indicated that the affliction with Cancer is being reduced. Both men and women saw about a 1% reduction.

Cancer is a word that puts fear into the strongest people. It is something that is associated with death. It strikes the young and old and everyone in between.

Doctors and scientists are making great strides to find ways to control and, if possible, cure this deadly disease. It takes a long time and a lot of cash to get a viable drug to market. Many drugs fail in the lab and others fail during the initial trial. Some move through the process but simply fail to get FDA approval.

It is simply amazing to me how the FDA can say that a drug can’t be used even it is to be used on people who are on the verge of death. I wonder if the FDA considers the side affects more important than the actual affect of not permitting the drug into the market. Lets see, high blood pressure versus death; diarrhea versus death; do you have a preference with these options?

There are no guarantees that any drug will keep us safe from a medical condition. If you are lucky enough to be using a drug for what ails you take the time to thank the scientists who designed the drug and the hundreds of people who played guinea pig so that you can enjoy the benefits.

From a personal point of view, I believe that if science can cure women’s reproductive cancer then they will be on the cusp of finding a cure for most cancers.
