Bloated Budget

Senator Stevens, of Alaska, complained that if the Senate cut his bridge to nowhere that he would leave the Senate. Apparently there is a pecking order for pork; the higher you are the dumber the project.

It now costs us, not the Feds as our elected officials would have you believe, more than $20,000 per household (Brian Riedl - Heritage Foundation - Washington Times) to cover federal spending. Take a moment and look at your 2004 tax return. If you didn’t pay $20K someone made up the difference, or will someday.

The House is looking at reducing entitlements by $50 billion over 5 years out of a projected pot of $7.8 TRILLION. The House leadership also suggested a 1 to 2 percent reduction in discretionary spending.

How are they doing? Ever hear a pig squeal?
