Chavez, Ahmadinejad and American Progressives

From time to time you simply have to step back and watch what is going on. Listening to people going ballistic over a 600 year old quote that makes them do exactly what the quote says is perplexing.

Then we have Kofi in Cuba saying that the UN needs to better reflect the thugs of the world. He infers that the Security Council (you know, the US who pays a chuck for the Kofi folly and permits the free speech?) needs to be less powerful.

Folks, this is what the American left is asking the world to negotiate with. Oh but wait, we can’t forget two of Kofi’s new friends – Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The real test about these two guys is would you let your kids play with them in their country?

Hugo Chavez has an 85% poverty rate in his country. He believes that he is a world leader because he will succeed Castro as the leader of the non-aligned countries (is Sudan part of that group?). He is trying to buy a split in America by discounting his country’s oil resources. Yesterday Democratic Congressman Rangel and Pelosi gave him a good dressing down thus creating a conundrum for the left. They actually loved what this guy said. The Democrats did the dressing down simply because Hugo sounds just like them and they saw the independent vote going down the toilet.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a simple case. My question for France (the leader of the American progressive movement) is how do you negotiate with this man? Do you intend to become an Islamic nation? Are you promising nuclear technology if you aren’t bombed before America? Isn’t Ahmadinejad the perfect example of why we don’t have a state religion?

Here is a simple quote from Ahmadinejad

People across the globe embrace justice and are willing to sacrifice for its sake.

Think about that statement. Come on, it is not that complex. Global justice outweighs all of your other rights. Isn’t this just the opposite of what Americans have been discussing the past three years? Hasn’t the discussion in America been about protecting individual rights so that the world will see that we are about justice? Unfortunately, Ahmadinejad is about Government rights and not the people.

What the quote actually says is that in Ahmadinejad’s view of the world Persia is the center of world justice. He believes that the right of the state to exist surpasses the right of the people of the state to live their lives freely. And the American left fawns over this guy.

If you have had any question about the American progressive movement you have now had them answered. Chavez and Ahmadinejad have been embraced by the base of our leftwing politics. Rangel and Pelosi’s outrage is simply over the fact that these two world leaders are stealing the words that Democrats use in domestic discourse and putting them on the world stage. The American press was so enamored with Chavez and Ahmadinejad that they forgot that by quoting these guys they are blowing Pelosi’s and her cohorts cover. The public now knows that our progressive leaders believe that Venezuela and Iran to be good examples of government.

UPDATE

The Anchoress puts this into perspective with Chavez clearly listened to Dems and Air America

Of course, read the obligatory comment from the “middle American left”, below…

    Rick James Says:

Yeah, Hugo Chavez is such a “thug” that he bombed Iraq, supported the invasion and destruction of Lebanon, and now threatens war against Iran.

Oh wait, no — that’s your piece of shit president George W. Bush.
