Ryder Cup – Team vs Me?
Tiger said there weren’t enough of the 20-somethings on the team and the team couldn’t putt. Hey, that excuse is as good as any other.
Congrats to the European team. It was good to see Darren Clarke back in action.
The problem with the American team is not that it lacks younger players or that the team putting was off for the week, the problem is really basic. The European team is made up of competitors who, for the most part, are also friends. The Americans are also competitors and money making conglomerates.
Tiger Woods being the exception, the American teams have been made up of members who are chasing the dollar and coincidentally a place on the Ryder Cup team. There is more intensity in playing the Western Open than there is in the Ryder Cup. The simple difference between these two events? Money!
Tom Lehman would have been better served by picking players starting at 50 on the money list and working down. No prima donnas in that group! No multi-millionaires either! Represent America with pride? You bet.
Team USA doesn’t need a captain they need to have a financial management seminar built around 5 rounds of golf called the Ryder Cup.
You see, it is all about Tiger, David, Stuart, Chad, JJ, Jim, Chad, Zach, Vaughn, Brett, Phil and Scott.
