Education or Iraq? Senator Kerry Tells Us What He Thinks Of The Troops!

The “We Support The Troops” mantra of the progressive left has disappeared. Senator John Kerry, who served in Viet Nam and Cambodia, spoke the real progressive feelings about our troops in a fund raiser for the loser Phil Angelides in Southern California.

Here are his words (via Michelle Malkin)

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

You can’t run from those words. You can’t hide. You can’t give an alternate interpretation.

Here is NBC news in Los Angeles with its campaign report. (The video will take a minute to load). You will hear Senator Kerry and “Well Done” Phil in all of their glory.

UPDATE

At the top of the hour, ABC news reported that Kerry said he was talking about President Bush – Say What? Wasn’t it proved that Kerry and Bush grades were similar? He said it, he meant it, and now he cut and ran!!

The latest is that this was a joke?

There is a reason that the leaders of the left have not been in the public…they were afraid they might slip and tell the people what they really intend to do. Unfortunately the 2004 and 2008 candidate didn’t get the message. Phil Angelides is losing because he was honest with what he wants to do and the DEM leadership has taken this to heart because they want to do what Phil wants to do.

Contrarian politics does not equate to good public policy.

12:04 p.m. UPDATE

Okay, Mr. Kerry, you don’t want those who have not served to shut up because they don’t understand? I served and won’t shut up. But I will make way for one who served much better than I:

Daily Troika: McCain Slams Kerry For Troops Comment

McCain, in Indianapolis today campaigning for Republicans, calls Kerry’s remarks “insensitive, ill-considered” and “unfortunate.” More, from McCain’s statement: “The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night.” More from McCain: “Senator Kerry owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country’s call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education.”

Rick Moran has this down cold – KERRY: AS COLD AS THEY COME

I believe that the following statement clearly defines the Kerry mission of the day.

Note for the record that Kerry does not even address the subject of his insulting remarks. Rather, he slimes his critics – a classic defense strategy for murderers and rapists but not, one assumes, a United States Senator who ran for President two short years ago.

The party has remained silent so one has to believe that the party believes the words as spoken by the Senator.

Here is Kerry’s answer to the criticism – ouch, there went ’08 in a flash.

    Citizen Politics Says:

How ignorant is that? It is no wonder the Democratic party does
not represent the people anymore. They keep parading guys like
this out their as their leadership.

    Amazing!
